The fixed gear bicycle is the type of bicycle that is used in velodrome racing; single fixed gear, no brakes and a racing frame and component design optimised for speed and efficiency. The electric fixie takes these concepts and has urbanised some features; such as brakes and free wheel ability (flip-flop rear wheel) to create a high performance bicycle that is designed to be the perfect urban commuting vehicle. The deficits of a single gear are completely taken care of by the slick bicycle design and electric motor. Using a custom designed reinforced fixed/free wheel bicycle, an advanced light weight lithium ion battery shaped into a water bottle and a front hub motor, this is an exceptional bicycle. The bicycle is street legal with the 200W motor and has a range of approximately 40km and speed of 28km/hr with light pedalling. Upgrading to any of the larger 350 - 500W gearless motors provides a higher top speed (30-35km/hr). The fully assembled and ready to ride electric fixie can be purchased in WA from Cottesloe Cycles or in Sydney from Scooters & Mobility. Delivery price of the fully assembled electric fixie must be negotiated with one of the above dealers. The fixie electric conversion kit and fixie bicycle can be purchased individually through us but you'll be required to assemble the components. The bike costs $650, the conversion kit $950 and delivery Australia wide $120. The discounted complete package is $1495 (plus delivery fee) for the electric model. | This is a model that came together particularly nicely. It's the GIANT VIA 2W made electric with the Solar Bike 200W mini-motor kit and a new design Panasonic 10Ah lithium ion rack battery. It runs Great and is far better than any production line bike of similar geometry! The range with light pedalling will be between 30-50km at a speed of approximately 28km/h. The 2011 GIANT CROSS CITY 4 is a sporty, fast and comfortable bicycle that is ideal for electrical conversion. The quality running gear, good price and chromoly steel forks make it an excellent choice for a very fast transportation machine. The model pictured above uses a 36V 10Ah lithium ion battery that comes in a custom designed lockable double layered rear rack. The water tube style battery is also a fantastic choice for this bicycle and would be recommended if adopting the 200W motor. The 500W model above offers a speed of 35km/h and a range of approximately 30km with light pedalling. The 200W model will allow a range in excess of 50km. | This is the newest and funkiest electric bike scooter we have been able to find. It's a retro-looking street legal Japanese designed model that is super comfortable to ride and the latest on the market. It is truly the most advanced of its sort in Australia. This bike does not have to be registered and no licence is required to ride it (provided you employ the 200W option) in most Australian states. Some states have implemented ambigous laws about this type of electric bicycle/scooter though so please look up your state laws. The 200W model can be upgraded to 500W by installing a modified motor control unit. A high quality lithium ion battery upgrade is available to create an extended range and lighter bike. |
